Report From the Secretary Treasurer

Membership 2007

The year saw 318 precious souls added to the church rolls during the year; 184 members transferred into the conference with 185 transferring to another conference; 65 members were laid to rest in the Lord and 266 names were removed from the church rolls; leaving the total membership of the conference at 9366. (The majority of those removed were due to churches bringing their rolls up to date). However, it is certain that the numbers given above are incorrect as the majority of churches failed to report in time for their figures to be incorporated into the yearend report. This is one area of our church that we must address and we will be working with all church clerks in an effort to bring the rolls up to date.

Finances 2007

The tithe received in 2007 increased by just under 1% to $8,252,976. This is significant when you consider that a number of large amounts were received in 2006. The total income for the Conference increased by 2.2% to $10,506,788, however the expenses increased by 13.1% to $8,217,044; the majority of the increase being in the area of field ministry and evangelism. The graph below will give an indication as to how the expenses of the Conference are made up. This figure however does not include the expenditure at Tui Ridge, and when this is taken into account, the Conference spent $2,363,137 more than the income received. This amount is more than covered however by special appropriations received from the Division and the funds held for Tui Ridge by the Conference in reserves. The audited accounts for 2007 will be included in a future NorthNewz when they become available.
