What an experience this weekend has been! For anyone searching for answers and seeking healing from a pain filled life resulting from circumstances and choices, 'Living in Recovery" has been a ray of hope in the darkness. Cheri Peters the speaker at this event, which has been run as a combined effort of the New Zealand Christian Foundation and the Pakuranga SDA Church, has "been there and done that". In her book "Miracle from the Streets", an utterly honest revelation of her life, Cheri writes about her life experiences: She was born to a mother addicted to drugs who tried to self abort four times, was molested since the age of 3 months, fell pregnant and was married at the age of 12, sought refuge from her hurt and disillusionment in drugs and lived on the streets for 10 years. Today she calls herself a recovering addict who has lived drug free for 31 years, has been happily married for 22 years and lives her life in service for the Lord, imbuing people everywhere with the hope, that if God could do it for her, he can do it for you too.
In her seminars Cheri talks candidly of her life in recovery and provides first hand information on how to hang on to recovery once you've given it to God. People who have attended the meetings, Christians and Non Christians, have been blessed and wish that their family members who are on a similar journey of pain and "lostness" were present to hear stories of victory in Jesus, grace and Gods abundant mercy.
If you know of people in your life who are fighting what seems like losing battles against life's hurts and addictions, please believe that there is hope, that Jesus loves them and that He doesn't give up on them.
