North New Zealand Conference
The past month has been a busy time for the Conference departments. The month started off in a flurry of activity for the North Conference Lead Team with the Ministers Meetings in Rotorua, which we have already reported about. This was followed by the Teen camp which was held at TRP from the 13-18th of April and the Women's Conference from 23-25th April in TRP again.
Teen Camp:
With a total of 60 teens, Teen Camp got under way on the 13th of April. The kids had fun at the beginning of the week with the elective activities such as driving, scuba, mountain biking, etc. The speaker for the week was Mark Falconer, the Associate Director of Youth and Family Ministries. Mark has been battling problems with his lungs for a few months now. However, each time he stepped up to speak, everyone present believe they witnessed a miracle as the laboured breathing that Mark is currently afflicted with, would appear to subside as he spoke.
Sabbath morning saw many of our teens sign commitment cards as they gave their hearts to Jesus and requested baptism. A number of other teens expressed a desire to learn more about being a Christian.
This year for the first time ever, TRP were the organisers of Teen Camp. Andrew West and his team are passionate about their vision for the teens of this conference. Andrew says that our kids are facing some really serious issues and they need our support and encouragement.
All in all, the Teen Camp was a tremendous success. The Youth Department and the team at TRP are looking at being able to reach more teens in the years to come.
Women's Conference:
The Women's Conference ran successfully over the weekend of the 23-25th of April at TRP. With Joanna Darby, a wife, mother, artist, inspirational speaker, leader and teacher, as the Speaker for the weekend, the women were encouraged to "Cherish" each moment, thought, journey, and each aspect of their lives. Joanna focused on how the presence of God in each moment of our lives, even the most ordinary ones, blesses them and adds purpose.
The weekend was a time of spiritual refreshing. It also gave the 160 women present there an opportunity to connect with God from deep within themselves. The special emphasis on prayer provided the women with the time for spiritual healing and restoration.
The "PJ" Party" allowed the women an opportunity to let their hair down and have some fun. In asking for more details I was told that "What happened at TRP will stay at TRP and will go no further"! Overall, the Women's Conference has been an incredible blessing and the women can't wait for next year's event!
Watch this space for more information on next year's event, which will become available as the year progresses.
